Welcome to the Science Advocate

Welcome to the Science Advocate! Whatever brought you to this website today, I hope you enjoy your stay.

My name is Sneha and I believe science is for everyone. More importantly, I believe everyone has a right to know what research is being published and what concepts and ideas are being talked about. Knowledge is power, right?

You might be thinking, “Sneha, I never liked science in school and I don’t see why you care about science so much. I have more important things to worry about!” This is entirely fair, but I do have a response for you:

  1. Firstly, the Science Advocate discusses scientific concepts and research in a less confronting and complex way than what was taught in school.

  2. Secondly, I care about science because it is the key to finding the answers to so many of the world’s biggest questions.

  3. Finally, yes – things like the cost of living and climate change are arguably more important than learning about science – but I believe science is research and research produces facts. If enough people know the facts, hopefully we can fight for better policies and laws that fix the issues we really care about.

It's important to note the Science Advocate is not a hub of solutions to the world’s problems. My mission is to simplify science – whether it’s chemistry or astronomy or ecology – to help people feel connected to ideas they once thought were too complicated to understand. In other words, I know one blog about some new research on planet Mars will not solve the housing crisis, but it is my hope that one day enough people will know enough about the world around them to advocate for real political change.
